Ernest Sports launch monitors run from the $199.99 ESB1 REV-D pocket unit to the $5,000 overhead ES Eagle Sim, with the ESB2 ($495) and the camera-and-radar Tour Plus 2.0 ($999.99) in between. The Georgia company has built its launch monitors in the USA since 2012 and is unusually open about which numbers it measures and which it calculates. This guide covers each model, what it measures, software and E6 Connect options, setup, shipping and the warranty.

Every fact on this page comes from Ernest Sports’ own website (ernestsports.com), checked on 4 October 2026. Some prices were sale prices at the time. Sources are listed at the end.

About Ernest Sports

Joe Ernest founded Ernest Sports in Georgia. He started the company in 2011 to build the first personal golf launch monitor with a free record-keeping app, and his ES12 was voted Best New Product at the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show. Ernest Sports says its aim has always been to put accurate launch data, once found only in fitting bays and tour trucks, in the hands of the golfer. Fourteen years on, its products run from a pocket unit to a ceiling-mounted simulator, are used by teachers, driving ranges, club fitters and golfers, and are still built in the USA.

Ernest Sports is open about how it measures. On its radar units, ball speed and club speed are measured directly and checked against professional reference equipment, with ball speed typically within about 1% in its testing. Launch angle, spin and distances are modelled from those speeds and the club you select, and the company says so rather than presenting them as measured.

Ernest Sports Launch Monitors

Model Technology Data Price (October 2026)
ESB1 REV-D Doppler radar, built-in screen Six metrics $199.99 (was $275)
ESB2 Doppler radar, no screen (uses ES Range app) Ball and club speed measured; others calculated $495
Tour Plus 2.0 Two high-speed infrared cameras + four 3D Doppler radar sensors 20 data points $999.99 (was $1,795)
ES Eagle Sim Overhead, one 700 fps high-speed camera 20 data points plus putting and swing plane $5,000

ESB1 REV-D

Six metrics on a built-in screen, about 20 hours of battery, and nothing else to set up. Ernest Sports was selling it for $199.99, down from $275, and shipping it in one to two business days.

ESB2

Ernest Sports calls the ESB2 its most portable launch monitor. Doppler radar measures ball speed and club speed directly; smash factor, carry, total distance, launch angle, spin, apex and descent angle are calculated from those speeds and the club you choose. It has no screen and shows your numbers in the free ES Range app on your phone or tablet. It’s palm-sized, lasts about 20 hours, mounts on a tripod, a cart rail or the ground, and comes with a tripod, charger and travel bag. Ernest Sports says it’s built for practice, distance gapping and speed training rather than club fitting, and that it works indoors into a net or screen as long as the ball has a few feet of clear flight.

Tour Plus 2.0

The Tour Plus 2.0 combines two high-speed infrared cameras with four 3D Doppler radar sensors for 20 data points, including spin axis, hang time, club path, face angle, angle of attack and dynamic loft. Infrared light boards make it suitable for indoor use, with a flash you can’t see. It runs E6 Connect for indoor course play on a basic Windows computer or an iPad, and comes with a power adapter, travel case and an E6 Connect trial.

ES Eagle Sim

The ES Eagle Sim mounts overhead, above your hitting area. Its 700 fps high-speed camera captures 20 data points plus full putting analysis and an overhead view of shaft lean, club path and true swing plane. It works with E6 Connect and TGC 2019. You mount and install it yourself; an installation guide is provided.

Software

  • ES Range app: free, for your phone or tablet, with AI analysis that reads your measured shots and suggests what to work on.
  • E6 Connect (sold by Ernest Sports): Basic $300, Expanded $600, and a 5-course pack $250.
  • TGC 2019: compatible with the ES Eagle Sim.

Setup

Ernest Sports’ quick guidance for its radar units: place the unit 4–6 ft behind the ball, then swing. The ESB2 also needs a few feet of clear ball flight in front of it when used indoors. The Eagle Sim mounts overhead above the hitting area.
