How much does a custom golf simulator cost?

DIY builds typically range from $3,000 to $8,000. Professional custom installations start around $15,000 and can reach $60,000 or more for luxury setups. That covers the launch monitor, PC, projector, impact screen and carpentry.

Does a simulator add value to a house?

In affluent markets a finished golf studio reads as a premium amenity. Built-in finishes — upholstered walls, hidden wiring — return more than a loose net in a spare room.

How long does installation take?

Once materials arrive, a professional team usually completes the build in two to four days. Ordering specialised parts such as screens can add two to three weeks beforehand.

What are the minimum room dimensions?

The common standard is 10ft wide by 16ft deep by 9ft high. Ceiling height matters most — you have to swing a driver comfortably. Radar units need more depth, around 20ft in total.

Can I put one in a garage?

Garages are the most common location for a home simulator. You will usually need to swap the garage door opener for a side-mounted jackshaft motor to free up ceiling height.

Is it loud?

Driver impact reaches around 100db. Installers dampen it with acoustic panels, upholstered wall tiles and a good impact screen.

Can left and right handers play together?

Yes, with about 15ft of width so the hitting strip can sit centred. Overhead sensors suit mixed-handed play best because nothing has to be moved between players.

Radar or camera — which is better?

Radar tracks full ball flight and is the stronger choice outdoors, but needs a deeper room. Camera systems are often preferred for pure indoor use: they need less space and read spin and putting very accurately.

Do I need a gaming PC?

For 4K software such as GSPro, TGC or E6 Connect, yes — roughly an RTX 3060 or better.

What projector should I use?

A short-throw laser projector with high brightness. Laser is preferred over bulb for instant-on and lifespan.

How long does 18 holes take?

About 45 to 60 minutes per player. A fourball finishes in three to four hours — considerably quicker than outdoors.

Do I need to bring clubs?

Venues almost always have rental sets, though regular players bring their own. Balls and tees come with the bay.
