Devices, Connection and PC Requirements

The SkyTrak app runs on iPad (iPad Pro recommended), on Android tablets running Android 4.4 or later, and on Windows 10 or 11 PCs. There are three connection modes:

  • USB mode: wired, with internet available.
  • Direct mode: a direct wireless link with no internet.
  • Network mode: wireless with internet, which SkyTrak recommends.

SkyTrak still works without Wi-Fi: it connects directly to your device and syncs your sessions the next time you’re online. The minimum PC is an Intel Core i5 with 8 GB RAM, a 128 GB SSD and an Nvidia GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon 580. SkyTrak recommends an Intel i5-11500K or Ryzen 3600, 16 GB RAM, and a graphics card that suits your resolution (GeForce 1060 for HD, RTX 2060 for 4K, RTX 3060 for max graphics). macOS and iOS need an Apple M1 chip or better, and iPhones can’t run course play. VPN software must not be installed, and internet is needed for first-time setup and to sync your licence.

Room Size

SkyTrak’s planning advice:

  • Ceiling: 10 ft gives ample clearance for most golfers, though many say 9 ft is enough. Check your enclosure’s own height too.
  • Width: SkyTrak generally suggests 12 ft; add 1–2 ft if both right- and left-handed players will use it. Its screens and nets range from 8 to 13 ft wide.
  • Depth: 17 ft is comfortable. SkyTrak sits beside the ball rather than up to 8 ft behind it, which saves space.
  • Indoors at minimum: 10 ft wide by 10 ft deep, with enough height to swing your longest club.
  • Outdoors: avoid direct sunlight on the lens and use clean, high-quality balls.
Studio footprint Minimum room (W / D / H) Ideal room
8 ft W × 4 ft D × 7 ft 6 in H 8.5 ft / 15 ft / 8 ft 9–12 ft / 16–19 ft / 8–9 ft
10 ft W × 5 ft 4 in D × 8 ft 6 in H (most popular) 11 ft / 16 ft / 9 ft 12–14 ft / 17–20 ft / 9–10 ft
12 ft W × 5 ft 4 in D × 8 ft 6 in H 13 ft / 16 ft / 9 ft 14–16 ft / 17–20 ft / 9–10 ft

  • 30-day satisfaction guarantee: returns within 30 days in the original packaging. Items that aren’t in new condition can carry a restocking fee of up to 40%, and you pay return shipping unless the item is defective, damaged or incorrect.
  • Not returnable: accessories, custom setups, simulation services, laptops and tablets. Studio packages aren’t eligible for free return labels.
  • Discount: current and former military, first responders and educators can get a discount through GovX.
  • Shipping: free on all SkyTrak products.
  • Selling yours: detach the unit from your Clubhouse account (My Devices) before you sell it; there’s also a trade-in programme for the ST MAX.

Is SkyTrak Right for You?

From SkyTrak’s own figures, the ST MAX suits golfers who want camera and radar data from a unit beside the ball, in rooms around 17 ft deep, with course play from TrackMan and Foresight packs. Two things to factor in: the yearly membership if you want courses, and the shorter warranty (six months or 25,000 shots).
